“Evil Dead” remake and “Don’t Breathe” director Fede Alvarez has been set to produce the latest “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” film in the works at Legendary Entertainment.
Kim Henkel, who wrote and produced the original film and directed “Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation,” has acquired the rights to the franchise.
Alvarez will produce for Henkel and Legendary and a filmmaker to helm the project is currently being sought. The film could potentially be a direct sequel to the Tobe Hooper 1974 original, but that’s not confirmed.
Eight films in the series have been produced so far, the most recent being 2017’s “Leatherface” which served as a prequel to the original.
